About us

I am a trainer who is experienced with the behaviour of people AND dogs. I am knowledgeable on the building blocks that are required to successfully raise a well-adjusted, confident dog in a family environment.

I grew up in Devon where everyone had at least four dog paws on their sofa; my extended family all lived with a dog (or two) in their home. I grew up loving and respecting dogs and to a certain degree, understanding them.

I should have realised that I was destined to work with dogs and their people, but I wasn’t listening to my calling, so I went to work in an office.  I quickly realised that teaching people was interesting to me, so I began to work as an IT trainer; teaching people how to use IT systems.

I then had two children with a young man who (it turned out) felt that raising or paying for children just wasn’t his thing!! I needed more money for all those trips to the farm and new trainers!  I went to university and got a degree in Information Systems; I learned about IT systems, but more interestingly, I learned more about how people interact with IT systems.  I have worked in project and change management for organisations for the past fifteen years.

I love getting out and about – anywhere where I can leisurely drink coffee and watch dogs and their people is great with me.  When pursuing my favourite pastime, I often meet people who can’t fully enjoy their life with their dog due to a lack of basic manners (their dog won’t come back when called for example) or more serious behaviour issues such as their dog doesn’t like people or other dogs.  The more I experienced this, the more I thought ‘I could help’ and the compelling desire to help people and their dogs enjoy their lives together was born.

I attended the Victoria Stilwell Academy for Dog Trainers and graduated with a distinction.

I share my home with Wilma, a Labradoodle who is fully proficient in muddy puddle exploration, swimming, finding lost balls and being a wonderful family dog; two cats – one is shy but gorgeous and the other believes she is the queen of the house.  We also share our home with a very messy human toddler!

Why choose us?

We have people knowledge and skills

I hold an honours degree (BSc) in Information Systems; the study of information systems revolves around how people interact with technology. I have worked as an IT Trainer (taught people how to use technology) and a Change Manager (working with people to define and successfully implement change within organisations).

All these studies and experiences revolve around great people skills and the ability to transfer knowledge effectively.

We are knowledgeable about dogs

I am a graduate of the Victoria Stilwell Dog Trainer Academy (Distinction), a proud member of the Pet Professional Guild, a member of the British Small Animal Veterinary Behaviour Association (BSAVB) and an associate member of the International Companion Animal Network (ICAN).

I spend many an avid day attending seminars, webinars and training activities to continually expand my knowledge of canine and human behaviour.

We focus on life skills for family dogs

I am Mum to two wonderful children (now grown-ups) and Nanny to a delightful little (quite messy, actually) toddler who lives with us.  We share our home and life with Wilma (a Labradoodle and wonderful family dog) Biscuit (a greedy mackerel tabby cat) & Clem (a lovely but shy, tortoiseshell cat).

Wilma has become a great family dog due to my understanding and application of the building blocks and common challenges of raising a well-adjusted, confident family dog.
